Proctors supports the University of Bristol International Nanoscience Symposium

Proctors and Nanoscience? Not perhaps the most obvious bedfellows, but surprisingly comfortable ones nonetheless. In fact, when the University of Bristol played host to their third international Nanoscience Symposium, Proctors provided marketing support as one of the three principal sponsors of the event along with HP Labs and the Bristol Centre for Functional Nanomaterials.

From the Proctors Design Awards of the ‘80s to a new internship scheme aimed at encouraging graduates wanting to build their portfolios, Proctors has always been keen to support talent and innovation in the South West. But with the Nanoscience Symposium we moved out of the creative and into the scientific.

Proctors provided brochures, posters, stationery and banner stands for this international event, employing Falmouth gradate Jake Jefferies to deliver the goods. He enjoyed 4 weeks here at the agency, building his portfolio while creating some striking work for the Symposium.

Bina Shah, Research Theme Facilitator at the University of Bristol and prime mover on the organisation of the event, was delighted with the results:

"I have worked with Proctor & Stevenson on and off for a long time now and know them to be accomplished professionals in their field who always deliver creative solutions that meet the project objectives on time and within budget. Quite simply the Proctors team are reliable, always go the extra mile and are a pleasure to work with.

I also know Proctors to have a responsible corporate ethos so, when it came to organising a prestigious international symposium for the University of Bristol on a shoestring budget, I wondered if Proctors would be interested in helping sponsor the symposium in some way. This was a shot in the dark, as I was asking a very busy team to squeeze in yet extra work just for the fun of working on an interesting project. Fingers crossed and breath held while I waited to see what the answer would be and Proctors as usual came back with an interesting way to help.

Proctors found Jake, a talented design student, who had just completed his studies and was looking for an opportunity to get some relevant work experience and strengthen his portfolio. Jake, guided by the Proctors team, has been a delight to work with. He has a very responsive approach to a demanding client and the project. Clearly the Proctors culture suited him.

We ended up with a solution that was in keeping with the brand and at the same time fresh and unique with a definite wow factor."
