We’ve signed up for 10:10 – will you?

Proctor & Stevenson has been working to reduce its carbon footprint for years, so we were really excited when we heard about 10:10 – a formal initiative that encourages individuals, businesses and organisations to reduce their environmental impact.

We have now signed up, and will be doing all we can to meet our target. You can too, at www.1010uk.org/business

What we’ve done so far
First and foremost we have developed Intimis, an award-winning, one-to-one, real-time direct marketing, lead generation and tracking system. It reduces paper waste and energy by only following up on ‘real’ and engaged prospects – good news for both the environment and businesses’ bottom lines. As well as increasing campaign response rates by as much as six fold in some cases, it identifies ‘warm’ prospects. This means your call centre follow-up can be minimised to increase resource efficiency, again reducing your company's carbon footprint.

Transport-wise, Proctors encourages the team to cycle to work with a tax-free bike scheme, offers the hybrid Toyota Prius as first option to company car drivers, and whenever it’s economically viable, uses public transport to travel to meetings.

We also reduce, reuse and recycle wherever possible. Recent initiatives include a new ‘turn off overnight’ policy. Our files are now backed up throughout the day to a separate site, so computers can be turned off overnight, saving energy AND increasing data security.

Plans for tomorrow
In the future we plan to minimise impact (and expenses!) by making more use of e-conferencing. We also hope to minimise corporate air travel, encourage our team to sign up for 10:10 and look at new ways to dispose of computer hardware responsibly.
