What happens inside the 'Madhouse'?

Work experience for me has been an eventful and enjoyable experience so far at Proctor & Stevenson. Their company contains a variety of different people and different personalities. This creates a diverse and welcoming community within the company.

I think my experience within Proctor & Stevenson has given me a helpful foresight into how a design agency functions. In Proctor & Stevenson I have had a chance to talk to lots of different people with different occupations each of which have shown what they do in the company.

Monday
On Monday I started work experience at Proctor & Stevenson Ltd. I met some of the people within the company and also I learnt how to use a Mac which was weird.

I also learnt about a program called Illustrator. I met Natalie the Production Manager and spent some time with her learning how products get printed amongst other things.

Tuesday
On Tuesday I met Colin, Sue and Stu fro the studio.  I learnt about the projects they have done and I learnt about the backgrounds of some of the companies they work with. Also I continued my PowerPoint about Kcom. It was interesting as Mike the Creative Director explained what a telecoms company does.

Wednesday
Wednesday I went around Proctor & Stevenson Ltd and met the people from the Techlab and learnt about how they get around the different problems they face when making websites.  I also learnt that websites shouldn’t be taken for granted.

Also I met Phil and Ray and learnt about copywriters. This was interesting as I found that my knowledge about copywriters was sadly lacking. I also went to HP Labs, one of Proctor & Stevenson Ltd's many clients. It was interesting to see how Mark dealt with the clients and also I got to see the design in real life which was very impressive.

Thursday
On Thursday I interviewed Matt the Account Director and found out about what he looks for in employees and what is more valuable, experience or qualifications. Also I started this blog and the image.

Friday
On Friday I finished the image which accompanies this blog. I used a mix of skills to complete it and learnt new ones on the way. I also presented the company with a customised branding iron which seemed to go down well.

Conclusion
Overall I think that this experience has been useful as I have seen the processes of a company and how a company works. I have had a wonderful time and I have met lots of fantastic people who have cared for me and helped me improve in my skills and knowledge.
